All models are equipped with an in-line fuel filter. The filter on six cylinder engines is located near the carburetor. The V8 fuel filter is mounted lower, closer to the fuel pump.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Replace the fuel filter every 15,000 miles on 1976 models and every 30,000 on 1977 and later models. You'll need hose clamp pliers to remove the fuel line corbin clamps. Be sure the engine is cool when changing filters to prevent an accidental fire.

  1. Place a rag under the filter to catch any fuel that leaks from the line.
  2.
  3. Squeeze and remove the hose clamps. Remove and discard the old filter.
  4.
  5. Install the replacement filter in the same manner using the new rubber hose supplied with the filter.
  6.
  7. Remove the rag, start the engine, and check for leaks.
  8.
