Pulse Air Feeder System (1981 and Later)

The Pulse Air Feeder System supplies secondary air into the exhaust system between the front and rear catalytic converters to promote oxidation of exhaust emissions in the read converter. The system consists of a main reed valve, a subreed valve, air hoses and crankcase passages.

The main reed valve is actuated by pressure created by No. 3 piston. The subreed valve is actuated by exhaust pulsations. Fresh air is drawn through the air cleaner.
