2.2L ENGINE
  1. Separate the crankcase ventilator hose from the PCV module.
  2.
  3. Depress the retaining clip on the PCV module, turn the module counterclockwise and remove it from the cylinder head cover taking care not to damage the module of the cylinder head cover during the removal.
  4.
  5. Remove the ten screws that retain the cover to the cylinder head and remove the cover.
  6.

To install:

  1. Clean the cylinder head cover and its mating surface on the cylinder head thoroughly.
  2.
  3. Depress the retaining clip on the PCV module, turn the module clockwise, then install the PCV module into the cylinder head cover, check to see that the snorkel is positioned so that the open end is facing up. The snorkel should not be free to rotate.
  4.
  5. Apply RTV gasket sealer in a continuous bead approximately 1 / 8 in. (3mm) in diameter.
  6.
  7. Install the ten screws that retain the cover to the cylinder head and tighten to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  8.
  9. Connect the crankcase ventilator hose to the PCV module.
  10.

1987-89 Models
  1. On carbureted engines, disconnect the PCV line from the module, depress the retaining clip, then turn the module counterclockwise to unlock it from the valve cover, and remove.
  2.
  3. Remove/disconnect any other lines or hoses that run across the cam cover.
  4.
  5. Loosen the cover installation bolts, then remove them. Gently rock the cover to free it from the gasket or sealer, then remove.

  1. On 1987 covers, replace the two end seals, forcing the locating tabs into the matching holes in the cover.
  2.

To install:

  1. If the engine has the air/oil separating curtain, install it as described below (otherwise, proceed to the next step):
  2.
    1. Position the curtain manifold side first with the upper surface contacting the cylinder head and the cutouts over the cam towers. The cutouts must face the manifold.
    2.
    3. Press the distributor side of the curtain into position below the cylinder head rail.
    4.
    5. Make sure both rubber bumpers are in place at the top.
    6.

  3. On 1987 engines, form a gasket on the sealing surface of the head. It is necessary to use an RTV silicone aerobic gasket material (Chrysler Part No. 4318025 or equivalent).
  4.
  5. On 1988-89 engines, install the gasket onto the cam cover (on normally aspirated engines with Single Point Injection, fasten the gasket in place by forcing the tabs through the holes in the cover).
  6.
  7. On 1987 engines, install the reinforcements over both sides. Install the mounting bolts, then tighten them alternately and evenly to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
