REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Drain the cooling system to a level below the thermostat.
  2.

CAUTION
When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.

  1. Remove the two mounting bolts, then the thermostat housing.

To install:

  1. Dip the new gasket in water, then install. Position the thermostat in the water box, making sure it is properly seated by centering it in the water box, on top of the gasket. Install the housing, then the two bolts.
  2.
  3. Reconnect the hose, then install and tighten the hose clamp.
  4.
  5. Refill the cooling system, start the engine, and check for leaks. After the engine has reached operating temperature, allow it to cool. Then, recheck coolant level in the radiator, refilling as necessary.
  6.
