Tie Rod End

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Loosen the nut on the end of the tie rod end to the steering arm.
  2.

  1. Mark the tie rod position on the threads.
  2.

  1. Remove the cotter pin on the end of the tie rod end.
  2.

  1. Loosen the nut on the tie rod end.
  2.

  1. Using a ball joint separator, remove the tie rod end from the knuckle.
  2.

  1. Slip the tie rod end out of the knuckle.
  2.

  1. Unscrew the end from the steering shaft.
  2.

  1. Install a new tie rod end in reverse of removal. Tighten the end nut to 50 ft. lbs. (68 Nm) and the locknut to 65 ft. lbs. (88 Nm).

  3. Check the wheel alignment as soon as possible.
