Power Moonroof



Diagnosis & Testing
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Remove the switch.
  4.  
  5. Inspect terminals for poor connections, loose wires, bent, broken, or corroded pins, and then verify that the connector is securely fastened.
  6.  
  7. Check for battery voltage at the lead wire of connection to the switch.
    1. If battery voltage is absent, check the fuse.
    2.  
    3. If battery voltage is present, check through the switch for power delivery.
    4.  
    5. Replace switch if faulty.
    6.  

  8.  
  9. Check for battery voltage at the motor.
    1. If battery voltage is absent, check wiring.
    2.  
    3. If battery voltage is present, the motor may be faulty.
    4.

Removal & Installation
Motor
E-Class (210)
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Close sliding/pop-up roof.
  4.  
  5. Withdraw ignition key.
  6.  
  7. Remove overhead control panel.
  8.  
  9. Unscrew screws.
  10.  
  11. Remove sliding roof drive.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  
  3. Tighten bolts/nuts to specification as follows:

    Screw on sliding roof drive TORX: 3 ft. lbs. (4Nm)
     
    Hexagon socket: 3 ft. lbs. (4Nm)

  5. Synchronize sliding/tilting roof.
  6.  

Switch
E-Class (210)
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Pry out lenses.
  4.  
  5. Press in clips (arrows).
  6.  
  7. Pry out overhead control panel control module toward front.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect electrical connectors on overhead.
  10.  
  11. Remove switch from control panel.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.

  3. Check for proper function.
