Removal & Installation



Wiper Motor
E-Class (210)
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Remove wiper arm.
  4.  
  5. Open engine hood and move to vertical position.
  6.  
  7. Remove air inlet.
  8.  
  9. Remove wiper system.
    1. Take off cover below wiper system.
    2.  
    3. Unscrew securing nuts of wiper system.
    4.  
    5. Open clamp for rubber mount.
    6.  
    7. Disconnect wiper motor connector.
    8.  
    9. Take out wiper system together with mount.
    10.

  11. Wiper gear head basic setting.
  12.  
  13. Remove nut from wiper motor shaft.
  14.  
  15. Pry off crank arm from wiper motor shaft.
  16.  
  17. Remove bolts from wiper motor.
  18.  
  19. Remove wiper motor Install.
  20.  
  21. Move wiper motor to parking position.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  
  3. Install wiper motor.
  4.  
  5. Screw in bolts at wiper motor.
  6.  
  7. Wiper gear head basic setting.
  8.  
  9. Align crank arm and press onto wiper motor shaft.
  10.  
  11. Screw nut onto wiper motor shaft.
  12.  
  13. Install wiper system.
    1. Insert wiper system.
    2.  
    3. Plug in wiper motor connector.
    4.  
    5. Fit on rubber mount.
    6.  
    7. Close clamp for rubber mount.
    8.  
    9. Screw in securing nuts of wiper system and tighten to 6 ft. lbs. (8 Nm).
    10.  
    11. Install wiper arm.
    12.

  15. Adjust wiper system.
    1. Check distance "A" between the wiper gear head and windshield using a feeler gauge. Distance should be 0.31-0.46 in. (8-12 mm).

    3. The distance from wiper gear head to windshield can be adjusted by slackening the bolt (2). Wiper arm must be in vertical position.
    4.  
    5. Check distance "B" between the wiper arm and wiper blade using a feeler gauge.
    6.  
    7. If the distance is less than 0.20 in. (5 mm), bend wiper arm toward windshield until the gauge can be inserted.

  17. Fit on cover below wiper system.
  18.  
  19. Install wiper arm.
  20.  
  21. Install air inlet.
  22.  
  23. Check for proper function.
