Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the battery.
  4.  
  5. Remove the upper cover, as applicable.
  6.  
  7. Discharge refrigerant from refrigeration system.
  8.  
  9. Remove the following parts, as applicable:
    1. Remove the radiator upper support seal.
    2.  
    3. Remove the receiver and holder.
    4.  
    5. Remove the radiator upper support.
    6.  
    7. Remove the clearance lights.
    8.  
    9. Remove the headlights.
    10.  
    11. Remove the radiator fan and condenser fan.

  11. Remove the bolt and disconnect the discharge hose.
    NOTE
    Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture out of the system.

  13. Loosen the nut and remove the liquid tube.
  14.  
  15. Remove the condenser mounting bolts.
  16.  
  17. Push the radiator toward the engine.
  18.  
  19. Push the condenser toward the radiator and pull it upward.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal, noting the following:
    1. If condenser is being replaced, add compressor oil to the compressor.
    2.  
    3. Lubricate a new O-ring with compressor oil and install the liquid tube. Tighten the nut to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Lubricate a new O-ring with compressor oil and install the discharge hose. Tighten the bolt to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).

  3. After installation, evacuate air from refrigeration system.
  4.  
  5. Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant.
