Specific to:

Lexus ES300 1992-1996

  1. Drain engine coolant from radiator. It is not necessary to drain out all the coolant.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the water valve control cable from the water valve.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the water hose from the water valve.

  7. Remove the water valve:
    1. Disconnect the water hose from the heater radiator pipe.
    2.  
    3. Remove the bolt and the water valve.

To install:

  1. Push the water hose onto the heater radiator pipe as far as the ridge on the pipe and install the hose clip.
  2.  
  3. Install water valve with the bolt.
  4.  
  5. Connect the heater hose to the water valve
  6.  
  7. Connect the water valve control cable to the water valve:
    1. Set the temperature control switch to -COOL-.
    2.  
    3. Set the water valve lever to -COOL-, install the control cable, and lock the clamp. Lock the clamp while lightly pushing the outer cable in the direction shown.

Specific to:

Lexus ES300 1997-1999

  1. Drain engine coolant from radiator. It is not necessary to drain out all the coolant.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the water hoses from the water valve and heater radiator pipe:
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the hose clip and slide the hose clip along the hose.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the water hose.

  5. Disconnect the water valve control cable from the water valve.

  7. Remove the bolt and water valve.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Install water valve.
  2.  
  3. Connect the control cable.
  4.  
  5. Push the water hose onto the heater radiator pipe as far as the pipe grommet.
  6.  
  7. Install the hose clip in position, as shown in the illustration.

  9. After installation, adjust water valve control cable:
    1. Turn ignition switch to ON.
    2.  
    3. Set temperature control switch at -COOL-.
    4.  
    5. Set the eater valve control lever on the -COOL- position and install the control cable and lock the clamp. Lock the clamp while lightly pushing the outer cable in the direction shown by arrow.
