Power Windows



Diagnosis & Testing
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Inspect power window master switch continuity:
    1. Inspect the front driver-s switch, passenger switch, and rear switches.
    2.  
    3. If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

  5. Inspect power window master switch circuit:
    1. Disconnect the connector from the master switch and inspect the connector on the wire harness side as shown.
      NOTE
      Exceptions: During 60 second period after ignition switch ON - OFF (ACC) or until driver or passenger door is opened after ignition switch ON - OFF (ACC). If the circuit is not as specified, inspect the circuits connected to other parts.



      Tester Connection: 1-Ground, Condition: Constant, Specified Condition: Continuity
       
      Tester Connection: 7-Ground, Condition: Ignition switch position LOCK or ACC, Specified Condition: No Voltage
       
      Tester Connection: 7-Ground, Condition: Ignition switch position ON, Specified Condition: Battery Positive Voltage

  7. Inspect power window switch continuity:
    1. If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

  9. Inspect power window switch circuit:
    1. Disconnect the connector from the switch and inspect the connector on the wire harness side.
      NOTE
      Exceptions: During 60 second period after ignition switch ON - OFF (ACC) or until driver or passenger door is opened after ignition switch ON - OFF (ACC). If the circuit is not as specified, refer to wiring diagram and inspect the circuits connected to other parts.

  11. Inspect power main relay continuity:

  13. Inspect relay continuity between terminals.
    1. If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay.

  15. Inspect power window motor (Driver-s Door):
    1. Connect the positive lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative lead to terminal 1, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
    2.  
    3. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns clockwise.
    4.  
    5. If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

  17. Inspect power window motor (Front Passenger-s Door):
    1. Connect the positive lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative lead to terminal 1, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
    2.  
    3. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns clockwise.
    4.  
    5. If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

  19. Inspect power window motor (Rear Left Side Door):
    1. Connect the positive lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative lead to terminal 1, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
    2.  
    3. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns clockwise.
    4.  
    5. If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

  21. Inspect power window motor (Rear Right Side Door):
    1. Connect the positive lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative lead to terminal 1, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
    2.

  23. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns clockwise.
    1. If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

  25. Inspect power window motor (Driver-s Door Motor/Circuit Breaker Operation):
    1. Disconnect the connector from the master switch.
    2.  
    3. Connect the positive lead from the battery to terminal 6 and the negative lead to terminal 13 on the wire harness side connector and raise the window to full closed position.
    4.  
    5. Continue to apply voltage, check that there is a circuit breaker operation noise within approximately 4 to 40 seconds.

    6.  
    7. Reverse the polarity, check that the window begins to descend within approximately 60 seconds.
    8.  
    9. If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

  27. Inspect power window motor (Front Passenger-s Door Motor/Circuit Breaker Operation):
    1. Disconnect the connector from the power window switch.
    2.  
    3. Connect the positive lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative lead to terminal 3 on the wire harness side connector, and raise the window to full closed position.
    4.  
    5. Continue to apply voltage, check that there is a circuit breaker operation noise within approximately 4 to 40 seconds.

    7. Reverse the polarity, check that the window begins to descend within approximately 60 seconds.

    9. If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

  31. Inspect power window motor circuit breaker operation (Rear Right Side Door): See step of Front Passenger Door Motor.

  33. Inspect power window motor circuit:
    1. Disconnect the connector from the motor.
    2.  
    3. Connect the connector to the master switch and power window switch.
    4.  
    5. Inspect the connector on the wire harness side.
    6.  
    7. Set the window lock switch to the unlock position (except driver-s door motor).
    8.  
    9. If the circuit is not as specified, refer to wiring diagram and inspect the circuits connected to other parts.
