Trouble Code: P0562



System Voltage Low

Possible Causes:



Observe the driver information center (DIC) messaging that would indicate the electrical system requires service.
 
Inspect for the following conditions:

Loose or damaged terminals at the generator
 
Loose or worn generator drive belt

System Voltage Low - ECM

Possible Causes:



A low voltage DTC in multiple modules indicates a concern in the charging system.
 

Trouble Code: P0563



System Voltage High

Possible Causes:



Observe the driver information center (DIC) messaging that would indicate the electrical system requires service.
 
Use the scan tool in order to inspect all other modules for voltage related DTCs.
 
Running the engine with a battery charger attached may cause DTC P0563 to set.

Inspect the charging circuit for high resistance.
 
Inspect the vehicle battery for open or sulfated cells.

System Voltage High

Possible Causes:



Observe the driver information center (DIC) messaging that would indicate the electrical system requires service.
 
Inspect for loose or damaged terminals at the generator.
 
Inspect for loose or worn generator drive belt.
 
Use the scan tool in order to inspect all other modules for voltage related DTCs.
 
Running the engine with a battery charger attached may cause DTC P0563 to set.
 
Inspect the charging circuit for high resistance.
 
Inspect the vehicle battery for open or sulfated cells.

Cruise Control Multi-Function Switch Circuit

Possible Causes:



Ensure that the set/coast and the resume/accel switch are not stuck in the engaged position.
 
Repair all other DTCs and emissions related symptoms before performing this diagnostic.

Possible Causes:



Ensure that the resume/accel switch is not stuck or sticking in the engaged position.
 
For an intermittent condition, refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections .

Possible Causes:



On vehicles equipped with a sense circuit connected to the voltage regulator. This circuit must have voltage for the charging system to operate properly. This circuit is used as a reference to control system voltage. All circuits must be tested at the generator before replacing any components. refer to system schematic to confirm if the vehicle being serviced uses the sense circuit as part of the charging system.

5-Volt Reference 1 Circuit

Possible Causes:



The 5-volt reference 1 bus provides 5 volts to the following sensors:

The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor
 
The fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor
 
The accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor 2
 
The air injector reaction (AIR) pressure sensor, if equipped
 
The engine oil pressure (EOP) switch
 
The air conditioning (A/C) refrigerant pressure sensor
 
The camshaft position (CMP) sensor
 

The 5-volt reference 2 bus provides 5 volts to the following sensors:

The APP sensor 1
 
The throttle position (TP) sensor 1 and 2
 
The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor
 

It may be possible to locate the fault by disconnecting one component at a time from the affected 5-volt reference circuit while viewing the 5-Volt Reference circuit status parameter on the scan tool. The scan tool parameter will change from Fault to OK when the source of the fault is disconnected. If all 5-volt reference components have been disconnected and a fault is still indicated, the fault may exist in the wiring harness.

Possible Causes:



The DIC, if equipped, will display TRANSMISSION HOT - IDLE ENGINE when the transmission fluid temperature reaches 132°C (270°F).
 
Ask the customer about possible overloading, exceeding the trailer towing limit, or towing in overdrive.

Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) Sensor Circuit Low Voltage

Possible Causes:



The scan tool displays the transmission fluid temperature in degrees. After the transmission is operating, the fluid temperature should rise steadily to a normal operating temperature, then stabilize.
 
Verify the customer's driving habits, trailer towing, etc. Trailer towing should occur in D3.
