Diagnosis & Testing

  1. Disconnect the inoperative mirror.
  2.  
  3. Connect a test lamp between the appropriate mirror motor control circuits for the inoperative direction(s).
  4.  
  5. With a scan tool, command the mirror in the inoperative direction(s).
  6.  
  7. If the test lamp illuminates with the corresponding scan tool command, inspect for poor connections at the power mirror. If the test lamp does not illuminate, then inspect for poor connections at the appropriate door module.
  8.  
  9. Inspect for poor connections at the driver door module. If there is not a poor connection at the driver door module, replace the module.
  10.  
  11. Inspect for poor connections at the power mirror. If there is not a poor connection at the power mirror, replace the power mirror.
  12.  
  13. Inspect for poor connections at the power mirror switch. If there is not a poor connection at the power mirror switch, replace the switch.
  14.  
  15. Inspect for poor connections at the appropriate door module. If there is not a poor connection at the appropriate door module, replace the module.
  16.  
  17. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
  18.  

Removal & Installation
Motor
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the mirror face as follows:
    CAUTION
    Approved safety glasses and gloves should be worn when performing this procedure to reduce the chance of personal injury.

    1. To remove the non-electrochmic glass, manually tilt the top edge of the glass away from the mirror housing in order to gain access to the retaining tab located behind the glass.
    2.  
    3. Using a flat-bladed tool, carefully release the upper tab (1) that retains the glass to the actuator while simultaneously tilting the glass away from the mirror housing.
    4.  
    5. Partially remove the glass from the mirror assembly.
    6.  
    7. Disconnect the 2 heated mirror connectors from the glass, if equipped.
    8.  
    9. Remove the glass from the mirror assembly.

  5. Remove the screws retaining the mirror to the mirror housing.
  6.  
  7. Remove the mirror motor from the housing.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the electrical connector from the mirror motor.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Connect the electrical connector to the mirror motor.
  2.  
  3. Install the mirror motor to the mirror housing.
  4.  
  5. Install the screws retaining the mirror motor to the housing and tighten to 88 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the mirror face as follows:


    1. Position the glass to the mirror assembly.
    2.  
    3. Connect the 2 heated mirror connectors to the glass, if equipped.
    4.  
    5. Carefully attach the glass to the actuator by pushing the glass into the actuator, ensuring the upper (1) and lower retaining tabs are fully seated.
    6.  
    7. Verify proper operation of the mirror assembly.
    8.

  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  

Switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Carefully use a flat-bladed tool in order to release the outside mirror switch retaining tabs from the trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the outside mirror switch from the trim panel.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the power folding mirror switch.

To install:

  1. Connect the electrical connector to the power folding mirror switch.
  2.  
  3. Position the power folding mirror switch to the door trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Apply downward pressure to the power folding mirror switch, ensuring the retaining tabs are fully seated.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.
