  1. Disconnect the sunroof module connector C1.
  2.
  3. Test for continuity through the overhead console sunroof switch from the low reference circuit terminal to the open and close circuit terminals in the harness connector.
  4.
  5. Operate the power roof switch in the open and close positions while testing the corresponding circuit. If the sunroof switch has continuity in both positions, then inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the sunroof module and if there is no continuity, test the overhead console sunroof switch signal circuits for open or high resistance.
  6.
  7. Disconnect the sunroof motor connector.
  8.
  9. Connect a test lamp between the sunroof motor open and close control circuit terminals in the harness connector.
  10.
  11. Operate the sunroof switch to the open and close positions, and if the test lamp illuminates, then inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the sunroof motor, and if it does not illuminate, test the sunroof motor control circuits for an open or short to ground.
  12.
  13. Test the sunroof motor control circuits for an open or short to ground and repair, if necessary. If it is not an open or short to ground, inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the sunroof module.
  14.
  15. Test the overhead console sunroof switch signal circuits for an open or high resistance and repair, if necessary. If it is not an open or high resistance, inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the overhead console sunroof switch.
  16.
  17. Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the sunroof motor and repair, if necessary. If it is not a poor connection, replace the sunroof motor, then perform the sunroof initialization procedure.
  18.
  19. Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the overhead console sunroof switch and repair, if necessary. If it is not a poor connection, replace the sunroof switch
  20.
  21. Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the sunroof module and repair if necessary. If it is not a poor connection, replace the sunroof module.

  9. Remove the screws (1) which retain the sunroof motor/actuator (2) to the sunroof module assembly.
  10.
  11. Remove the sunroof motor/actuator (2) from the sunroof module assembly.
  12.

To install:

  1. Align the splines on the sunroof motor/actuator shaft with the drive gear on the sunroof module assembly.
  2.
  3. Install the sunroof motor/actuator (2) to the mounting bracket, ensuring that the sunroof motor/actuator is fully seated.
    NOTE
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4.
  5. Install the screws (1) that retain the sunroof motor/actuator (2) to the mounting bracket and tighten to 27 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
  6.
  7. Connect the sunroof motor/actuator wiring harness electrical connector.
  8.
  9. Install the tie strap retaining the sunroof motor/actuator wiring harness.
  10.
  11. Press and hold the open switch until the glass panel stalls at the hard stop. The glass panel then moves forward several millimeters. This position is called the soft stop or full open position.
  12.
  13. Release the switch.
  14.
  15. Press and hold the open switch within six seconds of step 8, continue holding until the glass panel moves to the closed position and stops.
  16.
  17. Release the switch.
  18.
  19. Install the headliner.
  20.
  21. Perform the following initialization procedure if replacing the sunroof motor with a new motor:
    1. Turn the ignition ON.
    2.
    3. Press and hold the open switch until the glass panel stalls at the hard stop. The glass panel then moves forward several millimeters.
    4.
    5. Release the switch.
    6.
    7. Press and hold the open switch again within 6 seconds of step 2. Continue holding until the glass panel moves to the closed position and stops.
    8.
    9. Release the switch.
    10.

  22.
  23. Perform the following reinitialization procedure if removing and reinstalling the same sunroof motor:
    1. Turn the ignition ON.
    2.
    3. Press and hold the open switch until the glass panel stops at the full open position. The glass panel then moves forward several millimeters.
    4.
    5. Release the switch.
    6.
    7. Press and hold the open switch for approximately 10 seconds or more until the glass panel opens further to the hard stop.
    8.
    9. Release the switch.
    10.
    11. Press and hold the open switch again within 6 seconds of step 4. Continue holding until the glass panel moves to the closed position and stops.
    12.
    13. Release the switch.
    14.

  24.
  25. Connect the negative battery cable.
  26.
