Power Door Locks

Diagnosis & Testing
  1. If the power door locks do not operate, first check the circuit breaker and fuse.
  2.
  3. Test the switches for the presence of voltage. If there is no voltage present, check for opens and short circuits in the wiring between the switches and fuse panel.
  4.
  5. If there is voltage, check for continuity at the switch and replace the switch if there is no continuity in both switch positions.
  6.
  7. Inspect the wiring between the door lock solenoid and the switch if the switch shows continuity,.
  8.
  9. If all but one lock solenoids operate, remove the door trim panel and test for voltage at the solenoid while operating the lock switch. One of the wires should have voltage in the lock position; the other should have voltage in the unlock position.
  10.
  11. Replace if voltage is present in the inoperative solenoid.
  12.
  13. If voltage is not received in the inoperative solenoid, check for a short or open circuit in the wire between the relay and the lock solenoid.
  14.
