Door Glass & Regulator

Power Windows
Diagnosis & Testing
  1. If the power windows do not operate, first check the circuit breaker and fuse.
  2.
  3. Test for continuity of the wiring between the power window switches and fuse panel and repair if necessary.
  4.
  5. If only one window is inoperative from the master control switch, try a different control switch (except driver door switch) at the window. Check the inoperative switch for continuity if the window works testing the other switch.
  6.
  7. If the switch is tested successfully, inspect for an open or short circuit between the window motor and the affected switch.
  8.
  9. Test for voltage at the motor and the switch while operating the switch if one window is inoperative from both switches. You must first remove the switch panel from the door.
  10.
  11. If the motor is receiving voltage, separate the glass from the window regulator. Check the window for binding or damage by moving the window up and down by hand. Also check the window regulator for the same binding or damage.
  12.
  13. Replace the motor if the window regulator is okay and the window moves up and down smoothly. If there is binding or damage, lubricate, repair or replace parts, as necessary.
  14.
  15. If the motor is not receiving voltage, check the wiring in the circuit for continuity between the switches and motors.
  16.
  17. If a relay is contained in the circuit, check that the relay is receiving voltage and grounded properly.
  18.
  19. Operate the windows to Test the windows after you are done to confirm proper repairs.
  20.
