Removal & Installation



Lower Control Arm
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the tire and wheel.
    NOTE
    Hold the link with a wrench during nut removal.

  5. Remove the stabilizer link to lower control arm nut.
  6.  
  7. Remove the trailing arm bracket to underbody bolts, 2005-06 models only.
  8.  
  9. Place a screw type jackstand under the lower control arm.
  10.  
  11. Using the jackstand, compress the coil spring.
  12.  
  13. Remove the lower shock bolt.
  14.  
  15. Remove the jounce bumper nut at the lower control arm, 2005-06 models only.
  16.  
  17. Loosen the lower control arm to support the frame bolt.
  18.  
  19. Remove the lower control arm to knuckle nut and bolt.

  21. Lower the control arm in order to unload the coil spring.
  22.  
  23. Remove the coil spring.
  24.  
  25. Remove the jounce bumper.
  26.  
  27. Remove the control arm support nut and bolt.

  29. Remove the lower control arm.
  30.  

To install:

  1. Position the lower control to the support and hand tighten the bolt and nut.
  2.  
  3. Install the spring and jounce bumper to the lower control arm; then hand tighten the jounce bumper nut.
    NOTE
    Spray silicon lubricant on the insulators to aid in installation. Ensure the spring is properly seated.

  5. Position the spring with the rubber insulators into the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Use a screw type jack stand to compress the spring.
  8.  
  9. Install the knuckle to the lower control arm. Tighten the lower control arm to knuckle nut and bolt to 160 Nm (118 ft. lbs.).
  10.  
  11. Tighten the lower control arm to support nut and bolt. Tighten the nut and bolt as follows:

    2005-06 Models: to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm)
     
    2007 Models: to 118 ft. lbs. (160 Nm)
     

  12.  
  13. Install the shock to the lower control arm. Tighten the lower shock bolt to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Remove the jackstand.
  16.  
  17. Tighten the jounce bumper to the lower control arm nut, 2005-06 models only. Tighten the nut to 63 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
  18.  
  19. Install the stabilizer link to the lower control arm. Tighten the nut to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
    NOTE
    Hold the link with a wrench during nut installation.

  21. Push the trailing arm upward to align the front bracket to the body bolt, 2005-06 models only.
  22.  
  23. Use a drift to aid in bracket alignment and install the remaining bolts. Tighten the bracket to body bolts to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).
  24.  
  25. Install the tire and wheel.
  26.  
  27. Lower the vehicle.
  28.  
  29. Check the rear alignment.
  30.  

Upper Control Arm
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the trailing arm bracket to body bolts, 2005-06 models only.

  5. If applicable, remove the antilock brake system (ABS) brake harness from the upper control arm.
  6.  
  7. Remove the upper control arm to knuckle nut and bolt.

  9. Remove the upper control to support nut and bolt.

  11. Remove the upper control arm.
  12.  

To install

  1. Install the upper control arm to the knuckle.
  2.  
  3. Loosely install the upper control arm to knuckle nut and bolt.
  4.  
  5. Install the upper control to support bolt and cam nut.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the upper control arm to knuckle nut and bolt. Tighten the nut and bolt to 118 ft. lbs. (160 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Tighten the upper control arm to support bolt. Tighten the upper control arm to support bolt as follows:

    2005-06 Models: to 160 Nm (118 ft. lbs.)
     
    2007 Models: 121 ft. lbs. (164 Nm)
     

  10.  
  11. If applicable, install the ABS harness to the upper control arm.
  12.  
  13. Push upward on the trailing arm and loosely install the front bolt, 2005-06 models only.
  14.  
  15. Use a drift to align the remaining bolts. Tighten the trailing arm bracket to body bolts to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).
  16.  
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18.  
  19. Check the rear alignment.
  20.
