  1. Turn the front wheels to the straight-ahead position.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position and remove the key.
    NOTE
    If the key is in the RUN position when the Air Bag fuse is removed or open (blown), the Air Bag warning lamp in the dash will light up. This is normal operation, not a sign of a malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Remove the Air Bag fuse from the fuse panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the drivers side knee bolster and unplug the yellow 2-pin connector at the base of the steering column to disarm the driver-s side Air Bag. Remove the passenger side knee bolster and unplug the yellow 2-pin connector to disable the passenger-s side Air Bag.
  8.  
  9. Reverse the procedure to arm the Air Bag restraint system.

  5. Remove the Air Bag fuse from the fuse panel.

  7. Remove the driver-s side knee bolster and unplug the yellow 2-pin connector at the base of the steering column to disarm the driver-s side Air Bag. Remove the passenger side knee bolster and unplug the yellow 2-pin connector to disable the passenger-s side Air Bag.
  8.  
  9. Reverse the procedure to arm the Air Bag restraint system.
  10.  

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn OFF the ignition.
  4.  
  5. Remove the key from the ignition.
  6.  
  7. With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
  8.  
  9. Remove the SIR fuse from the fuse block.
  10.  
  11. Raise and support the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from both front end sensor connectors located on the frame crossmember.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect both front end sensor connectors
  16.  
  17. Reverse the procedure to arm the system.
  18.  
  19. When the fuse is installed, turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  20.  
  21. The AIR BAG indicator will flash 7 times then turn off.
  22.  
  23. Perform the Diagnostic System Check if the AIR BAG indicator does not operate as described.
