The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) is located near the master cylinder at the left front wheelhousing. The Electronic Brake Control Module, Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) and combination valve comprise the Electronic Hydraulic Control Unit (EHCU).

Removal & Installation



  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the combination valve.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front and rear brake pipes (from master cylinder) from the combination valve.
  4.  
  5. Remove the right front, left front and rear brake pipes from the tube adapters.
  6.  
  7. Remove the four 10 mm bolts that fasten the EHCU bracket to the vehicle mounting bracket.
  8.  
  9. Lift the EHCU partially out of the engine compartment.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the four electrical connectors from EBCM.
  12.  
  13. Fully remove the EHCU from the vehicle.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Connect the four electrical connectors to the EBCM.
  2.  
  3. Install the EHCU to the vehicle frame.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the three bolts to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the right front, left front and rear brake pipes to the tube adapters.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the three brake pipe fittings to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the front and rear brake pipes (from master cylinder) to the combination valve.
  12.  
  13. Tighten the three brake pipe fittings to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Connect the electrical connector to the combination valve.
  16.  
  17. Connect the negative battery cable.
    NOTE
    Verify that the combination valve metering rod is depressed during bleeding.

  18.  
  19. Bleed the brake system.
  20.  
  21. Check ABS for proper operation.
  22.
