Removal & Installation

  1. Remove the bezel for the instrument panel cluster.
  2.  
  3. Remove the Radio.
  4.  
  5. Remove the heater control assembly by firmly depressing and holding the retaining tabs and then sliding the assembly away from the dash.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the temperature and mode cables from the back of the control head.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the electrical connection from the control head.
  10.  
  11. Remove the control head.

To install:

  1. Connect the electrical connection to the control head
  2.  
  3. Connect the temperature and mode cables to the back of the control head.
  4.  
  5. Install the control head to the instrument panel carrier until a snap is heard.
  6.  
  7. Install the radio.
  8.  
  9. Install the bezel for the instrument panel cluster.
  10.  

  1. Remove the instrument cluster trim plate bezel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the instrument panel storage tray.
  4.  
  5. Remove the accessory switch assembly from the instrument panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the screws from the HVAC control assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the HVAC control assembly, with the following procedure:
    1. Release the retaining tabs.
    2.  
    3. Pull the control head out of the instrument panel carrier.
    4.  

  10.  
  11. Unplug the electrical connectors from the HVAC control assembly.

To install:


WARNING
Make sure the ignition key is in the OFF position when connecting the electrical connectors to ensure the proper calibration of the control panel.

  1. Engage the electrical connectors to the HVAC control assembly.
  2.  
  3. Install the HVAC control assembly.
  4.  
  5. Install the accessory switch assembly to the instrument panel.
  6.  
  7. Install the screws from the HVAC control assembly.
  8.  
  9. Install the instrument panel storage tray.
  10.  
  11. Install the instrument cluster trim plate bezel.
    WARNING
    Do not adjust any controls on the HVAC control module while the HVAC control module is calibrating. If interrupted improper HVAC performance will result.

  13. Start the vehicle and let run for one minute .
  14.  

Manual Control Panel



  1. Remove the bezel located in the instrument panel center cluster.
  2.  
  3. Remove the radio for access.
  4.  
  5. Remove the heater control assembly by firmly depressing and holding the retaining tabs and then sliding the assembly away from the dash.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the temperature and mode cables from the back of the control head.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the electrical connection from the control head.
  10.  
  11. Remove the control head.

To install:

  1. Connect the electrical connection to the control head
  2.  
  3. Connect the temperature and mode cables to the back of the control head.

  5. Install the control head to the I/P carrier until a snap is heard.
  6.  
  7. Install the radio.
  8.  
  9. Install the bezel into the instrument panel.
  10.  


CAUTION
This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, unnecessary SIR system repairs or PERSONAL INJURY. If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in AIR BAG/SIR.


NOTE
The key should be in the OFF position when connecting the electrical connectors to ensure proper calibration.

  1. Disable the SIR system, as outlined in the Chassis Electrical Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the instrument panel trim bezel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the IP module switch from the lower right opening of the switch plate panel.

  7. Disconnect the IP module switch electrical connector.
  8.  
  9. Release the retaining tabs on the control assembly.
  10.  
  11. Pull the control head out of the instrument panel carrier.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the control assembly.
