Coil Springs

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Install a spring compressor and compress the coil spring.
  6.  
  7. Using a jackstand or suitable equivalent, support the lower control arm.
  8.  
  9. Remove the lower control arm-to-knuckle bolt.
  10.  
  11. Lower the control arm and remove the coil spring.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Position the coil spring onto the lower control arm.
  2.  
  3. Raise the lower control arm into position.
  4.  
  5. Install the lower control arm-to-knuckle bolt and tighten to 44 ft. lbs. (60 Nm) plus 60 degrees.
  6.  
  7. Remove the spring compressor.
  8.  
  9. Install the wheel.
  10.  

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the Real Time Damping (RTD) sensor, if equipped.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower shock absorber nuts and bolt from the rear axle.
  6.  
  7. Lower the rear axle until the springs are fully unloaded.

  9. Remove the spring and the upper and lower insulators.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Position the spring and the upper and lower insulators.
  2.  
  3. Install the rear spring to the rear axle.
  4.  
  5. Raise the rear axle. Install the lower shock absorber nuts to the rear axle.
  6.  
  7. Connect the RTD sensor, if equipped.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rear axle support. Lower the vehicle.
  10.
