The Knock Sensor (KS) is a tuned accelerometer on the engine which converts engine vibration to an electrical signal. The PCM uses this signal to determine the presence of engine knock and to retard spark timing.
Removal & Installation
Raise and safely support the vehicle.
Remove the intake manifold.
Remove the bolt and the Knock Sensor (KS).
To install, reverse the removal procedure and tighten mounting bolt to 15ft. lbs. (20 Nm).

Disconnect the Knock Sensor (KS) harness connector and measure the resistance between KS + and KS - on the component side. The resistance should read between 4.39M-5.35M ohms. If resistance reading is not within specifications suspect a faulty KS.
