Wheel Speed Sensor Rings (Toothed Rings)


Removal & Installation

Front Wheel

The front wheel anti-lock brake sensor ring is integral to the hub and bearing assembly. The sensor ring is accessed by removing the brake rotor. Refer to the Brake Rotor, Removal and Installation procedure in the Front Disc Brakes section of this manual.

Rear Wheel

On vehicles with independent rear suspension there is one speed sensor ring is integral with each of the two rear halfshafts and cannot be serviced separately. This system is referred to as the 4-channel system.

On vehicles with a solid rear axle one speed sensor ring is mounted to the ring gear within the differential housing. Replacing requires removing the ring gear assembly. This system is referred to as the 3-channel system.
