The brake pressure control valve is used in the hydraulic brake system to balance front-to-rear brake application. The valve reduces hydraulic pressure to the rear wheel cylinders to prevent rear wheel lock-up.
The valve is not repairable and must be replaced if defective.
The valve is located in the engine compartment on the firewall, below and to the right of the power brake booster.
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
See Figure 2
- Use a line wrench to loosen the brake pressure control valves hydraulic lines.
- Loosen the valve retaining bolts and remove the valve.
- Install the valve and tighten the retaining bolts.
- Connect the brake lines to the valve and, using a line wrench, tighten the flare nuts to 10-15 ft. lbs. (13-21 Nm).
- Bleed the brake system.
