Wheel Bearings

The front wheel bearings are of a hub unit design and are pre-greased, sealed and require no maintenance. The bearings are preset and cannot be adjusted.

Removal & Installation

If the vehicle is equipped with air suspension, the electrical power to the air suspension system must be shut off prior to hoisting, jacking or towing an air suspension vehicle. This can be accomplished by turning off the air suspension switch located in the luggage compartment. Failure to do so can result in unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs, which can result in shifting of the vehicle during these operations. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

  1. If equipped, turn the air suspension service switch to the OFF position before raising the vehicle.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following

    Front wheel
    Grease cap from the hub
Disc brake caliper. Suspend the caliper with a length of wire. Do not let it hang from the brake hose. Discard the disc brake caliper mounting bolts.
Disc brake rotor. If the factory installed push on nuts are installed, remove them first.
Wheel hub retainer nut and discard
    Hub and bearing assembly

The front wheel bearings are a sealed hub design, are lubed for life, and require no maintenance. The bearings are preset and cannot be adjusted. For bearing hub removal and installation, see Section 8.
