- Raise and safely support the vehicle so wheels are fully extended.
- Have an assistant grasp the lower edge of the tire and move the wheel and tire assembly in and out.
- As the wheel is being moved in and out, observe lower end of knuckle and lower control arm. Any movement indicates abnormal ball joint wear.
- If any movement is observed, install new lower control arm assembly or the ball joint, as required.
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
The lower ball joint is integral to the lower control assembly and cannot be serviced individually. Any movement of the lower ball joint detected as a result of inspection requires replacement of the lower control arm assembly.
