Diagnosis & Testing



  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

  3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause.

Removal & Installation



Door Locks
Power Door Locks
Motor
Front Door

NOTE
This procedure covers removal of the door lock actuator. The passenger side is shown, the driver side is similar.

  1. Remove the front door trim panel, as follows:
    1. Remove the 3 front door latch bolts. For installation tighten the bolts to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Remove the mirror access panel.
    4.  
    5. Remove the door trim panel screw located behind the mirror access panel.
    6.  
    7. Remove the 2 door trim panel screws located in the door pull.
    8.  
    9. Remove the window regulator control switch panel.
    10.  
    11. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
    12.  
    13. Remove the door trim panel screw located beneath the window regulator control switch panel.
    14.  
    15. Remove the door trim panel screw located behind the mirror access panel.
    16.  
    17. Remove the door trim panel screw located at the rear-most of the front door trim panel.
    18.  
    19. Remove the 2 hex-head screws located at the bottom of the front door trim panel.
    20.  
    21. Carefully raise and remove the front door trim panel.

  3. Disconnect the exterior front door handle actuating rod.

  5. If equipped, disconnect the door lock cylinder actuating rod.
  6.  
  7. Position the front door latch to provide access to the door lock actuator.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the door lock actuator electrical connector.
  10.  
  11. Remove the door lock actuator from the front door latch.
  12.  
  13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  14.  

Sliding Door

NOTE
This procedure covers removal of the door lock actuator.

  1. Remove sliding door remote control by performing the following:
    1. Remove the sliding door trim panel, as follows:
    2.  
    3. Remove the 3 sliding door latch screws. To install, tighten to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Position the sliding door latch outside of the door frame. If equipped, disconnect the sliding door detent switch electrical connector.
    6.  
    7. Remove the 3 sliding door remote control bolts from the inside of the door frame. To install, tighten to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
    8.  
    9. Remove the 3 sliding door remote control bolts. To install, tighten to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
    10.  
    11. Open the clip and disconnect the sliding door exterior handle actuating rod.
    12.  
    13. Open the clip and disconnect the sliding door interior handle actuating cable.
    14.  
    15. Position the sliding door remote control.
    16.  
    17. Disconnect the sliding door lock actuator and if equipped the sliding door latch actuator electrical connector(s).
    18.  
    19. Remove the sliding door remote control.
    20.  

  2.  
  3. Remove the rivet and the sliding door lock actuator.
  4.  
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Use the special tool and install a new rivet.
  6.  

Switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the 2 front door switch plate screws.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front door switch plate.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  8.  
  9. Release the locking tabs and remove the door lock control switch.
  10.  
  11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
