Service Interval Reminder Light

The 1980-84 passenger cars did not use an emission maintenance reminder light.

Beginning in 1985, a SERVICE interval reminder light was used.

At approximately every 5000 (8000 km) or 7500 miles (12,000 km), depending on engine application, the word SERVICE will appear on the electronic display for the first 1500 miles (2400 km) to remind the driver that it is time for the regular vehicle service interval maintenance (oil changes, etc.).

To reset the service interval reminder light for another interval follow the service procedure below:

  1. With the engine running, press the TRIP and TRIP RESET buttons at the same time.
  3. Hold the buttons down until 3 beeps are heard to verify that the service reminder has been reset.
