REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

All suspension fasteners are important in that they could affect the performance of vital parts and systems, and/or could result in major service expense. Any part must be replaced with one of the same part number or with an exact equivalent. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during assembly to ensure proper retention.
- Raise and safely support the vehicle. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
- Disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the lower arm, if equipped.
- Remove the shock absorber. Remove the steering link from the pitman arm.
- Using spring compressor tool D78P-5310-A or equivalent, compress the spring.
- Mark the position of the upper and lower coil ends on the spring seats.
- Remove the 2 lower arm pivot bolts, disengage the lower arm from the frame crossmember and remove the spring.

- Loosen the forcing nut to relieve the spring tension and remove the tools from the spring.
- Assemble the spring in the compressor. Position the spring in its seat and align the coil ends with the marks made earlier.
- The remaining procedures are the reverse of the removal procedure. Refer to the appropriate procedures in this section.
