Ford Mustang 1989-1993 Repair Guide

Mustangs equipped with a manual transmission utilize a self-adjusting clutch, but every 5000 miles (8000 km) you should make sure the clutch pedal and cable are adjusting themselves. To do this, place the transmission in 1st gear, then reach down, grab the clutch pedal and pull upward (very little effort, a force of 10 lbs/4.5 Kg should be sufficient) until it stops. Finally, depress the clutch pedal and listen for an audible "click.'' If you hear a sound, the clutch was in need of adjustment, and it has just adjusted itself.
