The KS is a tuned accelerometer on the engine which converts engine vibration to an electrical signal. The PCM uses this signal to determine the presence of engine knock and to retard spark timing.
Removal & Installation
For access to the Knock Sensors, refer to Intake Manifold Removal and Installation.
Remove the 2 Knock Sensor bolts, and remove the Knock Sensors.
- To install, tighten the Knock Sensor bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
