On vehicles with fuel injected engines, fuel lines remain pressurized even after the ignition is switched off. Therefore, it is critical to relieve pressure from the fuel system before disconnecting any fuel line or component.
On 6-232 and 8-302 engines with CFI, relieve the system pressure at the pressure relief valve mounted on the throttle body. (This valve can be located after removing the air cleaner assembly.) Use Pressure Gauge Tool no. T80L-9974-A, or equivalent, and drain the system through the drain tube.
