On those systems so equipped, the air gap between the armature and magnetic pick-up coil in the distributor is not adjustable, nor are there any adjustments for the amplifier module. Inoperative components are simply replaced. Any attempt to connect components outside the vehicle may result in component failure.
On most DuraSpark III ignition systems the rotor alignment is adjustable and must be properly set as the system is sensitive to variation. In most cases this adjustment is not periodically necessary, but should checked after distributor replacement. For details, please refer to the rotor alignment procedure located under diagnosis and testing earlier in this section.
