Ford Pick-Ups/Bronco 1976-1986 Repair Guide
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
Remove the driveshafts.
Remove the two center support bearing attaching bolts and remove the assembly from the vehicle.
Do not immerse the sealed bearing in any type of cleaning fluid. Wipe the bearing and cushion clean with a cloth dampened with cleaning fluid.
Check the bearing for wear or rough action by rotating the inner race while holding the outer race. If wear or roughness is evident, replace the bearing. Examine the rubber cushion for evidence of hardening, cracking, or deterioration. Replace it if it is damaged in any way.
Place the bearing in the rubber support and the rubber support in the U-shaped support and install the bearing in the reverse order of removal. Torque the bearing to support bracket fasteners to 50 ft. lbs.
