  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the turbocharger compressor manifold. Refer to .
  4.  
  5. Remove the fuel filter/water separator assembly. Refer to .
  6.  
  7. Remove the high-pressure oil pump reservoir plug.
  8.  
  9. Using a suitable suction tool, remove the oil from the high-pressure oil pump reservoir.
  10.  
  11. Using the high-pressure line disconnect tool 303-625 or equivalent, remove the hoses from the high-pressure oil pump.
  12.  
  13. Detach the electrical connector from the oil pressure regulator.
  14.  
  15. Remove the bolts and the cover from the engine front cover.
  16.  
  17. Position the wiring harness aside.
  18.  
  19. Remove the drive gear bolt and washer from the drive gear.
  20.  
  21. Remove the bolts and the high-pressure oil pump from the engine front cover. Remove and discard the gasket.
  22.  

If the high-pressure oil pump is to be replaced, remove the oil pressure regulator from the pump.

  1. Remove the oil pressure regulator from the oil pump.
  2.  

To install:


CAUTION
Make sure that the drive gear is fully seated on the high-pressure oil pump before installing the bolt and washer. Otherwise, the drive gear may not seat properly, causing binding or slippage resulting in a no oil flow condition.

  1. The installation is the reverse of the removal.
