General Information


The exhaust emission control system begins at the air intake and ends at the tailpipe. The exhaust emission control system includes the exhaust gas recirculation system and exhaust catalyst, as well as the electronic controls that govern the fuel and ignition system. These components combined control engine operation for maximum engine efficiency and minimal exhaust emissions.

Many of the following testing procedures require the use of breakout box tool T83L-50-EEC-IV or equivalent, and either STAR tester 007-00004 or SUPER STAR II tester 007-00028 or equivalents.
