The windshield wipers on your Probe can operate in either a summer or winter mode, which allows the wiper blades to rest either on the windshield, or below it. The summer/winter mode electrical connector is located on the interior fuse panel. The wiper blades will rest below the windshield when the electrical connector is plugged into the socket marked SUMMER. The wiper blades will rest on the windshield when the electrical connector is plugged into the socket marked WINTER. In the summer mode, the blades may be lifted off the molding by placing the arms on the wiper lift brackets.
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
Unscrew the retaining nut and remove the arm and blade assembly from the pivot shaft.
Remove the wiper blade from the wiper arm. Refer to
Install the wiper blade on the wiper arm.
Turn the wiper switch
and allow the motor to move the pivot shafts through 3-4 cycles. Turn the wiper switch
Install the arm and blade assembly so the tip of the wiper blade is 0.79-1.18 in. (20-30mm) from the bottom of the windshield.
The driver's side wiper arm is marked ""DL". The passenger's side wiper arm is marked ""PL".
Install the retaining nut and tighten to 7-10 ft. lbs. (10-14 Nm).
Cycle the wipers several times and retorque the retaining nut.
Make sure the windshield wiper arm is horizontal to the pivot shaft so the pivot shaft splines are fully seated in the wiper arm.
