The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is located on the instrument panel close to the windshield on the driver's side of the vehicle. It is visible from outside the vehicle. This 17 character label contains such information as manufacturer name, month and year of manufacture, type of restraint system, body type, engine, etc. The VIN is used for title and registration purposes.
A Vehicle Certification Label (VCL) is also affixed on the left front door lock panel or door pillar. This label contains such information as gross vehicle weight, paint code, tire pressure, trans. and axle type, etc. The VCL is also used for warranty identification of the vehicle.
