In most cases to work on many portions of your vehicle, it ids necessary to disconnect the battery cables from the terminals so not to damage any components or cause harm to yourself with a jolt of electricity.
- Start by making sure the ignition is OFF .
When disconnecting the battery cables, always remove the negative terminal first.
- Use the correct size wrenches to loosen the terminal hardware. If this is not done you may strip a nut and cause more aggravation than you may want on a Sunday evening!
- If necessary, use a puller tool which is designed to remove the terminal from the battery post.
- Lift the negative terminal off the battery post, then the positive.
