Thunderbirds and Cougars do not use an emission maintenance reminder light. Starting in 1985, a SERVICE interval reminder light was used.
At approximately every 5000 (8046 km) or 7500 miles (12,070 km), (depending on engine application) the word SERVICE will appear on the electronic display for the first 1500 miles (2414 km) to remind you that it is time for the regular vehicle service interval maintenance (refer to maintenance chart in Routine Maintenance ).
To reset the service interval reminder light for another interval. With engine running, press the TRIP and TRIP RESET buttons at the same time. Hold the buttons down until 3 beeps are heard to verify that the service reminder has been reset.
