Speedometer Cable

Depending on year and model, some dash panels or the instrument cluster may require removal to gain access to the rear of the speedometer.

  1. Reach up behind the speedometer and depress the flat, quick-disconnect tab, while pulling back on the cable.

  1. If the inner cable is broken, raise and support the car and remove the cable-to-transmission clamp and pull the cable from the transmission.
  3. Pull the core from the cable.
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Lubricate the core with speedometer cable lubricant prior to installation.
