The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is located at two positions on the vehicle. The first is at the top left of the dash, viewable through the windshield. The second location is at the driver side door jamb, on the certification label.
The seventeen-digit vehicle number is composed of an identification number and a six-digit serial number.
The two most important digits are the eighth and tenth. The eighth digit identifies the engine type. This will be used elsewhere in this repair guide to identify the engines in the specification charts. The tenth digit identifies the model year.
