Removal & Installation




NOTE
The valve cover is also referred to as the camshaft cover.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the breather tube from the valve cover.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect all of the necessary vacuum lines.
  6.  
  7. Remove the spark plug cover bolts.
  8.  
  9. Remove the spark plug cover.

  11. Disconnect the ignition wires from the spark plugs.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.
  14.  
  15. Remove the camshaft cover bolts.
  16.  
  17. Remove the camshaft cover.
  18.  
  19. Remove the camshaft cover gasket from the camshaft cover.

To install:

  1. Apply a small amount of gasket sealant to the corners of the front camshaft caps and the top of the rear camshaft cover-to-cylinder head seal.
  2.  
  3. Install the new camshaft cover gasket to the camshaft cover.
  4.  
  5. Install the camshaft cover.
  6.  
  7. Install the camshaft cover bolts.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the camshaft cover bolts to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm)
  10.  
  11. Connect the ignition wires to the spark plugs.
  12.  
  13. Install the spark plug cover.
  14.  
  15. Tighten the spark plug cover bolts to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm)
  16.  
  17. Install the spark plug cover bolts.
  18.  
  19. Connect the camshaft position sensor connector.
  20.  
  21. Connect all of the necessary vacuum lines.
  22.  
  23. Connect the breather tube to the camshaft cover.
  24.  
  25. Connect the negative battery cable.
  26.
