Diagnosis & Testing

Specific to:

Suzuki Forenza 2007-2008

Suzuki Reno 2007-2008


NOTE
To operate the roof, the ignition must be ON .

  1. Check fuse F8 for damaged to terminals or a blown fuse.
  2.  
  3. Check the voltages at fuse F8 terminals.
  4.  
  5. If voltages are 11-14volts at terminals check wiring for an open or short to the roof switch.
  6.  
  7. To check the interior courtesy lamp/power roof control switch, disconnect the interior courtesy lamp/power roof control switch connector.
  8.  
  9. Turn the ignition ON .
  10.  
  11. Disconnect wire connectors at the roof switch.
  12.  
  13. Connect a voltmeter between the connectors, on the connector side of the wiring harness.

  15. Turn the ignition ON .
  16.  
  17. Observe the voltmeter reading, the readings should be between 14-14 volts.
  18.  
  19. If voltages are 11-14volts at terminals check wiring for an open or short to the roof module.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the sunroof module connector.
  22.  
  23. With the roof switch in the OPEN position, check the voltage at terminal (1) of the roof module. .connector.
  24.  
  25. With the roof switch in the CLOSE position, check the voltage at terminal 6 of the roof module connector.
  26.  
  27. Observe the voltmeter reading, the readings should be between 11-14 volts.
  28.  
  29. Reconnect the roof module.
  30.  
  31. Remove the roof motor, but leave the connectors attached.
  32.  
  33. Turn the ignition ON .
  34.  
  35. Use the roof switch to attempt to operate the motor in both directions.
  36.  
  37. The motor should operate.
  38.  

If the roof motor does not operate then refer to the roof motor testing section.

Removal & Installation

Specific to:

Suzuki Forenza 2007-2008

Suzuki Reno 2007-2008

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the A-pillar trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the sun visors with vanity mirror.
  6.  
  7. Remove the formed headliner.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  10.  
  11. Remove the drain hoses.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  14.  
  15. Remove the screws and the motor.

  17. Remove the motor control module.
  18.  
  19. Remove the bolts and the housing from the vehicle.
    CAUTION
    Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.

To install:

  1. Install the housing to the roof of the vehicle with the bolts.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the roof housing bolts to 89inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the motor control module.
  6.  
  7. Install the motor with the screws.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the roof motor screws to 27in. lb. (3 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Connect the electrical connectors.
  12.  
  13. Install the drain hoses.
  14.  
  15. Connect the electrical connector.
  16.  
  17. Install the formed head liner.
  18.  
  19. Install the sun visors with vanity mirror.
  20.  
  21. Install the A-pillar trim panel.
  22.  
  23. Install the headliner.
  24.  
  25. Connect the negative battery cable.
  26.  

Motor

Specific to:

Suzuki Forenza 2007-2008

Suzuki Reno 2007-2008


NOTE
Battery must be at proper operating charge to conduct testing.

  1. Check fuse F8.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect both of the one-wire connectors at the roof motor.
  4.  
  5. Connect a voltmeter between the one-wire connectors, on the connector module side of the wiring harness.
  6.  
  7. Turn the ignition ON.
  8.  
  9. Turn the roof switch to the OPEN position and observe the voltmeter reading, the readings should be between 11-14 volts.
  10.  
  11. Turn the roof switch to the CLOSE position and observe the voltmeter reading, the readings should be between 11-14 volts.

  13. If the voltmeter indicates the specified voltage when either the switch is in the OPEN or the CLOSE position, replace the roof motor.

Switch

Specific to:

Suzuki Forenza 2007-2008

Suzuki Reno 2007-2008

The sunroof control switch is a toggle button located on the right side of the interior courtesy lamp assembly.

  1. To operate the roof, the ignition must be ON .
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Pry off the interior courtesy lamp lens.
  6.  
  7. Remove the screws and the switch.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the electrical connector.

To install:

  1. Connect the electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. Install the roof control switch with the screws.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the power roof control switch screws to 18inch. lbs. (2 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the interior courtesy lamp lens.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable
  10.  

Sun Shade



Removal & Installation
  1. Remove the sunroof.
  2.  
  3. Remove the sunshade screws.
  4.  
  5. Remove the sunshade.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bolts and the drain channel.
  8.  
  9. Remove the sun shade.

To install:

  1. Install the sun shade.
  2.  
  3. Install the drain channel with the bolts.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the drain channel bolts to 27 inch. lbs. (3 Nm)
  6.  
  7. Install the sun shade stops.
  8.  
  9. Install the sunroof.
  10.
