Power Door Locks



Diagnosis & Testing

Specific to:

Suzuki Forenza 2007-2008

Suzuki Reno 2007-2008

The power locking system used battery voltage to operate actuators in the doors and trunk.

  1. To check door and trunk actuators, disconnect plug from harness.
  2.  
  3. Using a multimeter check resistance of actuator in the lock and unlock position.
  4.  
  5. check for power and grounds.

Removal & Installation

Specific to:

Suzuki Forenza 2007-2008

Suzuki Reno 2007-2008

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the steering column trim cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the A-pillar trim panels.
  6.  
  7. Remove the floor console.
  8.  
  9. Remove the audio system.
  10.  
  11. Remove the center molding.
  12.  
  13. Remove the instrument cluster dimmer switch assembly.
  14.  
  15. Remove the instrument cluster trim panel.
  16.  
  17. Remove the instrument cluster.
  18.  
  19. Remove the glove box and the glove box housing.
  20.  
  21. Remove the knee bolster.
  22.  
  23. Remove the screws and the instrument panel side covers.
  24.  
  25. Remove the screw and the instrument panel fuse block.
  26.  
  27. Remove the nuts and the bolts securing the steering column.
  28.  
  29. Disconnect the steering column electrical connector.
  30.  
  31. Lower the steering column.

  37. Remove the bolt securing the middle of the instrument panel to the body.

  39. Remove the instrument panel screws behind the glove box brace.

  41. Remove the bolts securing the sides of the instrument panel to body.

  43. Disconnect the instrument panel electrical connectors.

  45. Remove the instrument panel.

To install:

  1. Position the instrument panel in the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Connect the instrument panel electrical connectors.
  4.  
  5. Install the bolts securing the sides of the instrument panel to the body.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the instrument panel-to-body bolts to 16 ft. lbs. 22 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the instrument panel screws behind the glove box brace.
  10.  
  11. Install the bolt securing the middle of the instrument panel to the body.
  12.  
  13. Tighten the instrument panel-to-body bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Install the connecting pieces with bolts and screws.
  16.  
  17. Tighten the connecting pieces bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  18.  
  19. Raise the steering column.
  20.  
  21. Connect the steering column electrical connector.
  22.  
  23. Install the nuts and the bolts securing the steering column.
  24.  
  25. Tighten the steering column nuts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  26.  
  27. Tighten the steering column bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  28.  
  29. Install the instrument panel fuse block with the screw.
  30.  
  31. Install the instrument panel side covers with the screws.
  32.  
  33. Install the knee bolster.
  34.  
  35. Install the glove box and the glove box housing.
  36.  
  37. Install the instrument cluster.
  38.  
  39. Install the instrument cluster trim panel.
  40.  
  41. Install the instrument cluster dimmer switch assembly.
  42.  
  43. Install the audio system.
  44.  
  45. Install the center molding.
  46.  
  47. Install the floor console.
  48.  
  49. Install the A-pillar trim panels.
  50.  
  51. Install the steering column trim cover.
  52.  
  53. Connect the negative battery cable.

Door Lock Assembly

Specific to:

Suzuki Forenza 2007-2008

Suzuki Reno 2007-2008

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the seal trim.
  4.  
  5. Remove the screws and the front door lock.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the lock rods.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the electrical connector.

To install:

  1. Connect the electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. Connect the lock rods.
  4.  
  5. Install the front door lock with the screws.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the front door lock screws to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the seal trim.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.  

Door Lock Motor

Specific to:

Suzuki Forenza 2007-2008

Suzuki Reno 2007-2008

The door lock motor is part of the power door lock assembly.

Door Lock Switch

Specific to:

Suzuki Forenza 2007-2008

Suzuki Reno 2007-2008

  1. Carefully remove door lock switch.
  2.  
  3. Remove electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. Reconnect electrical connector
  6.  
  7. Install door lock switch.
  8.
