REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Using a suitable sized chisel, lift the lock tab of the front axle spindle nut from the groove in the spindle.
  2.
  3. Loosen and remove the front axle spindle nut.
  4.
  5. Loosen the wheel lug nuts 1 / 2 turn.
  6.
  7. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  8.
  9. Remove the tire/wheel assembly.
  10.
  11. Remove the brake hose and caliper mounting bolts and place the caliper assembly aside supported by mechanic's wire to prevent the hydraulic hose from being damaged.
  12.
  13. Remove the ABS wheel sensor bolts and remove the wheel sensor.
  14.
  15. Remove the cotter key from the tie rod end spindle, and remove the castle nut, then using a tie rod end removal tool, remove the tie rod end from the knuckle.
  16.
  17. Remove the cotter key from the lower ball joint spindle, then loosen and remove the castle nut and release the ball joint from the lower control arm.
  18.
  19. On CRV and 4-cylinder Odyssey models, remove the cotter key from the upper ball joint spindle, then loosen and remove the castle nut and release the ball joint from the upper control arm.
  20.
  21. On V6 Odyssey models, remove the strut-to-knuckle mounting nuts and bolts.
  22.
  23. Pull the knuckle away from the vehicle. If necessary, use a plastic hammer to tap on the spindle to help release it from the hub splines.
  24.
  25. On CRV and V6 Odyssey models, using a hydraulic press and suitable press tools, remove the front hub/bearing assembly. For specific details, refer to the hub/bearing removal and installation procedures in this section.
  26.
  27. On 4-cylinder Odyssey models, remove the flange bolts securing the hub unit to the knuckle.
  28.
  29. Remove the splash guard.
  30.

Carefully inspect the lug bolt studs. If they have been damaged, replace them while the hub is removed from the knuckle.
