Print

The Vehicle Identification Number-VIN derivative for V6 engines are stamped or laser etched on the front and left side of the engine block. The Vehicle Identification Number-VIN derivative is nine digits long and can be used to determine if a vehicle contains the original engine.

For L4 engines the identification can be made through the use of the broadcast code label on the engine front cover and the use of the partial VIN etched on the oil filter bowl.

Engine codes are as follows:

1-3.9L, OHV, V6, gas

8-3.5L, OHV, V6, gas

B-2.4L, DOHC, L4, gas

7-3.6L, DOHC, V6, gas

N-3.5L, OHV, V6, gas
