Filling & Bleeding

  1. Remove the pump reservoir cap.
  2.  
  3. Fill the pump reservoir with fluid to the FULL COLD level.
  4.  
  5. Attach a vacuum pump and adapter to the pump reservoir filler neck.
  6.  
  7. Apply a vacuum of 20 in Hg (68 kPa) maximum.
  8.  
  9. Wait 5 minutes. Typical vacuum drop is 2-3 in Hg (7-10 kPa). If the vacuum does not remain steady, check the pump, lines and o-ring seals for leaks.
  10.  
  11. Remove the vacuum tools.
  12.  
  13. Reinstall the pump reservoir cap.
  14.  
  15. Start the engine. Allow the engine to idle.
  16.  
  17. Turn off the engine.
  18.  
  19. Verify the fluid level and fill as needed.
  20.  
  21. Start the engine. Allow the engine to idle.
  22.  
  23. Turn the steering wheel 180-360 degrees in both directions 5 times.
  24.  
  25. Switch the ignition off.
