Low Power Output of Engine

When the engine power output is below normal, check for the following, as necessary:

  1. Overheating of the cooling system.
  2.  
  3. Leaks in the vacuum system.
  4.  
  5. Leaking of the fuel pump or hoses.
  6.  
  7. Unadjusted valve timing.
  8.  
  9. A blown head gasket.
  10.  
  11. A slipping clutch disc or unadjusted pedal.
  12.  
  13. Excessive piston-to-bore clearance.
  14.  
  15. Worn piston rings.
  16.  
  17. A worn camshaft.
  18.  
  19. Sticking valve(s) or weak valve spring(s).
  20.  
  21. A poorly operating diverter valve.
  22.  
  23. A faulty pressure regulator valve (Auto. Trans.).
  24.  
  25. Low fluid level (Auto. Trans.).
  26.  
  27. Fault with the computerized engine control system.
