Since the hydraulic system provides automatic clutch adjustment, no adjustment of the clutch linkage or pedal height is required on vehicles equipped with the master and slave cylinder actuator system.
Vehicles not equipped with a hydraulic clutch actuator system (1982-83) are equipped with a linkage or cable system. The clutch cable should be adjusted in order to provide proper pedal feel and clutch actuation/engagement.
The early model vehicles equipped with a clutch cable utilize a self-adjuster which is easily reset:
- Lift up on the pedal to allow the self adjuster to adjust the cable length.
- Depress the pedal several times to set the pawl into mesh with the detent teeth.
- Make sure the clutch is working properly. If troubles are found, check the linkage for lost motion caused by loose or worn swivels, mounting brackets or a damaged cable.
