REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Door Lock Assembly

See Figures 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

  1. Remove the door trim panel. For details, please refer to the procedure located earlier in this section.

  3. If necessary, remove the water deflector.
  4.  

The water deflector is secured by a strip of adhesive between the deflector and door, as well as waterproof sealing tape. Upon installation, make sure a good seal is achieved to keep water from entering the body. If necessary, use strip caulking as a sealant between the deflector and door.

  1. Remove the lock rods from the inner door handle housing.
  2.  
  3. Remove the outside handle lock rod from the lock assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lock cylinder rod from the lock cylinder.
  6.  
  7. Remove the lock assembly-to-door retaining screws, then remove the assembly from the door.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to check the operation of the lock assembly before installing the water deflector (if equipped) and trim panel.

Lock Cylinder Assembly
  1. Remove the door trim panel. For details, please refer to the procedure located earlier in this section.
  2.  
  3. For early model vehicles, remove the armrest bracket-to-door screws and the bracket from the door.
  4.  
  5. Remove the water deflector (if equipped) and roll up the window.
  6.  

The water deflector is secured by a strip of adhesive between the deflector and door, as well as waterproof sealing tape. Upon installation, make sure a good seal is achieved to keep water from entering the body. If necessary, use strip caulking as a sealant between the deflector and door.

  1. Disconnect the actuator rod from the lock cylinder.
  2.  

On some late model vehicles, it may be easier to remove the lock cylinder retainer, then disconnect the linkage.

  1. Remove the lock cylinder-to-door retainer, then remove the lock cylinder and seal from the door.
  2.  
  3. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the operation of the lock cylinder before installing the water deflector (if equipped) and the door trim panel.
